Zarić Distillery was founded on the grounds and tradition of the once-famous “Povlen” rakija distillery, whose old glory faded over the last two decades until the arrival of the Zarić family. Despite the fruit-growing tradition of the Kosjerić region, various circumstances caused the old Povlen to lose its shine.
Determined to make the best use of the potential of this fruit-growing region and its tradition of producing the finest rakija, we worked full steam on modernizing and restoring the existing fruit processing and distillation facilities, which in turn increased both the need for fruit cultivation in the area and production capacities.
Large financial investments, dedication, and the desire to combine state-of-the-art technology, modern science, experience, and old Serbian tradition have enabled us to revive Povlen into what is now Zarić Distillery – the most modern rakija distillery in Southeast Europe.
